Regional Ocean Freight Procurement Manager (f/m/d)

Job Description

We are recruiting for an Ocean Freight Procurement Manager FCL (f/m/d), to report into our Director of Procurement & Pricing Ocean Freight Europe FCL. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing procurement activities within the assigned trade responsibility, ensuring optimal carrier management, tender execution, and fostering growth in ocean freight. Additionally, this role will include acting as an Ambassador for a designated cluster, supporting ocean freight growth strategies and cluster-specific objectives.

How you will contribute:

Procurement Management

  • Serve as the primary trade lane procurement contact for the assigned geographies.
  • Ensure carrier management is effectively executed, fostering strong relationships and negotiating competitive end-to-end procurement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of tariffs in alignment with market dynamics.
  • Lead tender preparation and execution within the assigned trade lanes.
  • Collaborate with country teams to address operational challenges and align procurement efforts with business needs.
  • Monitor trade market conditions and provide insights to support strategic decisions, as well providing market outlook.

Procurement Strategy

  • Define and execute procurement strategy in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Develop and maintain the procurement planning process.
  • Maintain policies to support product strategy and carrier relationships.

Carrier Selection and Contracting

  • Prepare and conduct tenders (RFP/RFQ) with clear selection criteria.
  • Negotiate master conditions and ocean rates to ensure competitive purchasing.
  • Develop and maintain contract standards, including performance incentives.

Trade Lane Procurement

  • Execute strategic trade lane procurement based on capacity plans and carrier strategies.
  • Coordinate with country procurement teams to delegate procurement activities.
  • Provide rate guidelines and resolve capacity-related concerns.

Your key qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in procurement and carrier management within the logistics and ocean freight industry.
  • Demonstrated success in leading tenders and negotiating competitive agreements.
  • Experience working in multi-stakeholder and cross-cultural environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data and drive strategic decisions.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to adapt to dynamic market conditions.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
